Pennsylvania Railroad N8 Caboose

Donated to the railroad club, the caboose was gifted in November of 1988. Built in 1951 at 56,800 pounds, Conrail donated the caboose to sit on static display just east of the depot building. Come visit our caboose during Open House. The caboose is unlocked for public viewing during our four annual open house weekends.

The N8 Caboose was the final cabin car (caboose) built by the Pennsylvania Railroad. Two hundred examples were built between December 1950 and June 1951, numbered 478020 to 478219. Cars 478100 to 478219 featured inductive trainphone antennas and battery boxes. Approximately half of the fleet had electrical lighting.
